Developed within the nursing profession, this therapy is based on the idea that the body has an energy field extending beyond its surface, which can be manipulated by a therapist. During therapy, the practitioner moves his hands over the patient’s body—specifically areas affected by illness—without actually touching the patient. In doing this, the practitioner redirects the flow of energy, and promotes healing.
