This form of complementary medicine is practiced by hundreds of thousands worldwide. Quite simply defined, meditation is extended thought or contemplation, and is an easily learned, highly beneficial health habit that greatly affects the mind, body and spirit. Like any habit, it takes a while to learn, and a short time before patients can clearly see its advantages. But once the habit is set (typically within a month), its effect on overall well being is highly noticeable.
